October 31, 1977. Johnny Carson rival Jack Delroy hosts a syndicated late night talk show ‘Night Owls’ that has long been a trusted companion to insomniacs around the country. A year after the tragic death of Jack’s wife, ratings have plummeted. Pretty good. Well paced, mostly well acted, and an interesting premise with some good character work, even if part of the central idea of the movie doesn't really stand up to any level of scrutiny. Also a few of the effects come across as cheap and lackluster. Still worth a watch though, for sure.

This movie is absolutely phenomenal, the ending was mortifying and overall it had great atmosphere. Could not reccomend more, it is now in my top 5 horror movies.

I'm so very on the fence about where I stand on this movie. Good: The set design and set pieces are great. The opening is fantastic. I enjoy the purpose behind why the characters do what they do. Actors are great, no issues there. As well, there were a few moments that were a bit "meta" (for a lack of a better word) which was neat as a viewer. Ultimately, plays itself very well. Bad: It doesn't feel like a movie that was shot in the 70's. The set pieces are designed well, but the camera movements, the side-recordings, and the ending really distract from what would be a film with a great set piece. On top of at, the ending uses a bit too much CGI which just doesn't feel good to see on a camera that is supposed to be using older film. On top of that, although it only appeared for a short moment, the use of AI to create the break shots was disappointing for a film that seemed to work so hard on everything else.
